Brian Comer was a tremendous resource for the roll-out of our Affordable Care Act tax reporting segment. He helped research the reporting requirements, met regularly with industry experts and software developers, helped build client relationships and strategic partnerships, and spearheaded the marketing plan for it. Due to a series of legal challenges to the law, we had a very short timeframe in which to launch the reporting platform. His intelligence, thoughtfulness, and energy really helped SPS/GZ become a successful ACA reporting provider despite the demanding circumstances. I do not doubt that with Brian’s passion for his beloved 43rd Ward, he will exhibit the same qualities of responsibility and activism in the role of Alderman.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside Brian Comer for over 20 years. He will make an excellent Alderperson. He has been a chairperson for many of our large scale events and his leadership has been instrumental to their success. His care for the community and being a champion for many causes is truly admirable.

Brian Comer is the real deal. Growing up in our ward has given him an inside view of the real issues. He has dedicated his life to serving our community.

I’m voting for Brian because:

I don’t know which of my connections with Brian is stronger; his love of family, his Irish gift of gab, or his conviction of being a steward of the community, but I do know which quality makes Brian the best choice for Alderman. Brian’s genuine care for our neighborhood, his history of getting involved to protect and strengthen our community, and his thoughtful plans to make positive change—all earn my vote!

Director of Operations, Brian Comer Campaign

Brian was raised here, and chooses to still live here. He knows what this  neighborhood needs. Without true historical experience- our 43rd Ward trajectory is erratic, inorganic and ripe for bad planning and greedy outside development.

Brian Comer chooses NOT to go negative. My god I am so tired of the negativity and nastiness- we want to move past the flame throwing scorched earth politics and get to work and enjoy our lives.

Timmy Knudsen has exposed his leadership style—if you are a constituent and do not agree with him—look out! Retribution politics.

His negative campaigning causes lethargy and dread. Young adults choose not to vote because of it. Campaigns used to be respected—there was actual true debate instead of name calling and slander. Timmy Knudsen has lowered the political bar in the 43rd.

It’s Brian Comer’s integrity that has won my support. HIs choice in running a positive campaign shows me that, as Alderman, Brian will be committed to his job. It’s important to me that he’ll run a transparent office, be collaborative and champion our needs to create a better life in the 43rd ward.

The 43rd Ward needs a leader like Brian Comer. He is authentic and enthusiastic about serving our community. As a lifelong resident, Brian is dedicated to the betterment of the ward. A true independent, Brian is not tied to the agenda of politicians. Brian offers innovative ideas about key issues such as public safety, development and support for neighborhood business. A vote for Brian Comer,  is a vote for a safe and prosperous 43rd Ward

Personally, Brian is pro economic growth and parks. He’s worked with Oz Park Baseball Association on improving shared park space and understands businesses are not a neighbor’s enemy but rather an essential partner in the community.

I’ve been in business in the 43rd Ward for 5 years and Brian Comer is the only politician to knock on my door and introduce himself. He’s the President of the Sheffield Neighborhood Association, supports the needs of OZ PARK Baseball/Softball and was raised in the 43rd Ward – local kid! He’s a good person, with a good head on his shoulders and has some good ideas. My favorite idea is how he would partner with DePaul University and recruit college graduates to join the Chicago Police Department while helping pay down their student loans.

There are many important issues in the 43rd ward election. One concern that is sometimes overlooked is preservation of our historic structures. Demolishing century-old homes and flats in many instances diminishes our quality of life in Lincoln Park. Brian Comer, a lifelong resident of the 43rd ward, understands the need to protect the charm and character of this lovely neighborhood before it is too late.

I strongly endorse Brian Comer as our next 43rd Ward Alderman.

I met Brian through shared professional & personal connections. Brian, a lifelong Chicagoian was born, raised and educated in the 43rd Ward and today resides in the Sheffield neighborhood. His intimate connection to our Ward gives him a tremendous perspective on the uniquely different neighborhoods that comprise our Ward and the various challenges each face. Servant leadership is at the core of what motivates Brian. He loves Chicago and the 43rd Ward and is committed to applying the experience he’s gained as a 3 term President of the Sheffield Neighborhood Association across our entire Ward. Brian has my vote and I hope you’ll consider giving him yours as well!

Thank you.

I have known Brian Comer for 15+ years, and during our years of friendship, I have come to know him quite well. He is a respected individual throughout our circle of friends and in our church community where we first meet.

As a professional woman, Brian and I have had several conversations regarding everything from politics to sharing advice on how to bring people together for certain causes. He has been a true leader of many church events that we have worked on together and feel that he would make an excellent addition to the 43rd ward, where I can guarantee he would work tirelessly for the good of the community he was born and raised in.

I give my full support to Brian in his bid for alderman. He is a people person with nothing but the best intentions for everyone that he would be representing in his ward. Brian is a true leader with respect and kindness to everyone he encounters.

Brian Comer has been a dear friend of mine for over 7 years. During that time, he has been incredibly supportive of my endeavors; personally, and in business. When I opened my new Pediatric office, he could not have been more proud. He has always encouraged and built me up as a friend, mother, physician, and women.

by During our years of friendship, we have had many backyard firepit conversations about sports, current events, and politics. He has always been an adamant supporter of women and women’s rights. In the summer of 2018(?) We attended the downtown rally in opposition  to the Trump Administration’s family separation at the southern border. Brian is a true believer in equal rights for all.

Since the day we met, Brian struck me as a true, hometown, Chicago guy. I remember telling him he should be the alderman. I hope this is a full circle moment.

I met Brian several months ago as my co-teacher for the Partner’s Program at Old St Pat’s Church where we volunteer to teach 7th graders in preparation for their Confirmation. I had never taught religious education before so I was nervous to teach in front of Brian who had been teaching for well over a decade. He led the first few classes and I was happy to be helping support him from the perimeter. I was impressed with his knowledge and the way he worked with the teens, a notably tough crowd to please. As the weeks passed, he encouraged me to lead the class. Even with all of his experience, he didn’t insist on controlling the classroom. In fact, he was more excited to teach with me than he was doing it alone.

We quickly became friends and I hosted a meet and greet for him at my home. He and his team of women campaign managers made an immediate good impression on everyone. As my guests left, they all said, “Brian has my vote and I’m telling everyone I know to vote for him too!”

Brian is a kind-hearted, smart man who truly wants the best for everyone he interacts with. Whether it’s a classroom of teenagers, a new shy teaching partner, or a neighborhood of people, Brian is sure to work with and for everyone equally. He is a breath of fresh air in the typical political game. I know we would all be better off in the 43rd Ward with Brian Comer as Alderman.

It is my pleasure to attest to the character of Brian Comer, candidate for Alderman in the 43rd Ward.

In June of 2000, I was hired as the Director of Family Ministry at Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago. I had volunteered at Old St. Pat’s for fifteen years prior to that hire.

Originally, I came to know Brian, as a fellow volunteer, through the planning committee of an annual fundraiser held for the church.  Brian was dedicated and dependable in his role.

Later, Brian joined our Religious Education Teaching Staff as a volunteer Junior High catechist – a position he has held for the past sixteen years.

Brian contributes time, energy, and passion into volunteer opportunities, and lives his life through a lens of service and spirituality.

In his role as a Junior High Sunday School teacher, I have known Brian’s commitment to his sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students, their parents, and his teaching partners.  He shows creativity, flexibility, thoughtfulness and enthusiasm in his lessons and in his interactions with his class.  He has gained the respect of his students and their parents.

Brian Comer is a very focused, conscientious, determined, dependable and most dedicated person.  He puts tremendous effort into all he does.  I believe Brian can make a strong contribution to this very important neighborhood role.  He has served us well.  No doubt he would serve the 43rd Ward with those same qualities.

Bea Cunningham

Director of Family Ministry, Old St. Patrick's Church

I have known Brian Comer for over ten years, both as a friend and as a colleague on the Sheffield Neighborhood Association. I’m proud to know Brian as both a friend and colleague to rally our community to support the Little Sisters of the Poor during the COVID lockdown in 2020. I know that he will bring the same leadership, creativity, and genuine care for the community to the role of 43rd Ward Alderman.
