Public Safety

  • Brian has as his first priority when taking office to put in a formal request for more cops on our streets! He will focus police budget dollars to get more officers on the street, and advocate for more police officers and creative solutions to fill the manpower gap.
  • Brian will fund more smart policing, look to technology to fill the gap in staffing, and support effective violence prevention programs.
  • Brian has engaged and will pursue further a DePaul University to start a recruiting program for the police force. Eighty percent of the students at DePaul are on financial aid and this program would include an incentive program to pay back a portion of their tuition.
  • Brian will engage the community to be part of the solution to make our ward a safer community. He organized an open forum for neighbors, officials, and police.
  • Brian’s focus will be on helping build and promoting a community policing strategy to empower district commanders to craft an operational strategy that works for their local neighborhoods. All of which centers on focusing more police officers on the beats patrolling the streets.
Community Empowerment

  • Brian is passionate about issues in his community and is committed to creating a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive environment.
  • He will expand police resources, promote community policing, and support effective violence prevention programs to improve public safety.
  • Brian will have two way communication with the constituents, will respond to calls, all of them!
  • Brian will preserve existing affordable apartments, ensure new developments are a mix of affordable and market-rate housing, and increase access to financial assistance for low-income families.
  • He is committed to protecting the environment, reducing air and water pollution, promoting clean energy, and bringing green jobs to the 43rd Ward.
  • Brian will engage the community to be part of the solution to make our ward a safer community. He organized an open forum for neighbors, officials, and police officers to discuss safety in the community after a tragic shooting.
  • As leader of the Sheffield Neighborhood Association, Brian has just secured $700, 000 for the betterment of the Sheffield Neighborhood Association.
Preservation and Development

    • Brian will make sure that any development is thoroughly vetted and open to public feedback, and that no project moves forward without community support.
    • He is committed to ensuring that neighborhood stakeholders have a voice in decisions that affect them, and will work to increase access to financial assistance for low-income families and individuals.
    • Brian is currently working on the 2MM renovation of Trebes Park, the public portion will begin in the Spring.

Environment 

  • Brian believes that the city should do more to reduce air and water pollution, promote clean energy, and bring green jobs to the 43rd Ward.

Education

  • Brian is a graduate of Oscar Mayer. Go Bulldogs! Public education will make sure that schools are a priority. The 43rd has wonderful schools but Brian wants fully funded.
  • Brian believes Lincoln Park High School is a beautiful structure that is in need of renovation. Brian will fight for the funds to make this happen and give the 43 the neighborhood high school that all the parents want to send their kids too.

Women’s Issues:

The overturning of Roe v. Wade is an incredibly disheartening development for many people. It is a huge step backwards for women’s rights and reproductive health. Being Pro choice, Brian firmly believes that women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies and reproductive health without interference. He believes that women should have access to comprehensive, unbiased information on all of their reproductive health options, as well as access to quality healthcare services for whichever option they choose. Brian is a supporter of women’s issues and is a champion for equal rights and opportunities for women. He has supported organizations that advocate for gender equality, and he believes that women should have access to the same resources and opportunities as men. He also supports initiatives that focus on closing the gender pay gap and eliminating gender-based violence.

 

  • Brian marched in the Women’s March, which is an inclusive event for all people who support gender equality and human rights.
  • Brian is supported by the women in his life. He places great value on their opinions and advice, and is always willing to listen and learn from their perspectives. He also appreciates their unconditional support, which has helped him to become the person he is today.
  • Brian is committed to gender equality.
